Raigam Sales Conference 2024

The Raigam Mid-Year Sales Conference & Distributor Convention 2024 was successfully held at the Avinka Grand Hotel, Thalagala, on 6^th July 2024. The newly introduced Raigam Pasta, which is the first Rice Pasta in Sri Lanka, along with Raigam Mutton Soya and Ravan Blister Packs, were launched at the event. The conference featured a line-up of enthralling events, including a motivational speech by Senior Director Prof. Sampath Amarathunga, which greatly impressed the crowd.

In addition to these highlights, the conference included common meetings for Channels and Brands, as well as an Award Ceremony recognizing the best performances. Chairman of the Raigam Group Dr. Ravi Liyanage, Managing Director Mr. Kishan Theodore, Senior Director Mr. Ganaka Amarasinghe, and the group Sales Staff and Distributors of the Group participated in the Conference.

It marked the end of another memorable day in the Raigam Diary.

Bana Ceremony by Ven. Professor Agalakada Sirisumana Thero.

On December 29th 2023, the Raigam Group organized a serene and a spiritually enriching “Bana” preaching Ceremony by Ven. Professor Agalakada Sirisumana Thero to welcome the New Year as well as to endow blessing on the Management and Staff of the Raigam Group. The event took place at the Raigam Main Factory Premises. Employees from across the Organization participated held in the event which was held in a most harmonious atmosphere.
The preaching of Bana by the Most Venerable Professor Agalakada Sirisumana Thero served as the platform to invoke blessing on the Raigam Group, its Management and the staff. Most Venerable Thero’s words of wisdom and insight will go a long way to strengthen even more the bond of loyalty, brotherhood and positive thinking among all the members of our Organization.
The Management also thought this was a very opportune occasion to present the deserving children of the members of the Organization who had passed the General Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level) Examination to be presented with monetary gift vouchers from the Hand of the Most Venerable Thero.

Selection process commences with calling applications for awards by a public announcement and also an invitation to all television channels to participate the festival with prospective entries. All entries for awards must be certified by the respective Channel Head that they were telecast on the channel during the relevant period. Repeat telecasts and programs telecast on paid channels are not eligible for awards.
Raigam Tele’es Secretariat has appointed a renowned and experienced panel of judges consisting well recognized academics, artists and critics in the field.

Two Events and Seven Categories

Raigam Tele’es Award Ceremony consists of two grand ceremonies, namely the Nomination Evening and the Grand Awards Night. Raigam Tele’es covers all the aspects of television performance and awards have been distributed as follows;

The Raigam Tele’es recently introduced a new category to recognize the most viewed television programmes (Tele-drama, Media programme and the News Bulletin). Usually the most popular programmes are decided on viewer preference declared on SMS poll, yet may not be the programmes most penetrated among television viewers. Therefore the new category has been introduced to recognize those based on the results of an island wide research conducted under the supervision of Prof. Laxman Dissanayake.
Television channels are required to send their nominations for following titles before 20th February 2024.

• Most Viewed Television Programme
• Most Viewed Television News Bulletin

All the nominees of Raigam Tele’es are granted with an annual life insurance cover of Rs. 1,000,000/- and a hospitalization insurance cover of Rs. 100,000/- and addition to that a special commemorative souvenir will be offered this year in line with 20th year anniversary. This is the only experience in Sri Lanka with such a benefit granted for all the nominees in a film or tele festival.
Apart from that, the winners of the Raigam Tele’es will receive cash prizes (Sampath Mudal Thilina) and the total value of cash prizes has been increased to Rs. 3.3 million this year.

Raigam Tele’es launched its CSR programme ‘‘Raigam-Sampath Yuthukama’’ to assist physically impaired artists due to aging or health issues, last year. The inaugural financial benefits were granted to veteran artist Mr. Jakson Anthoney and veteran teledrama director Mr. Nalan Mendis. In addition to that all the nominees for awards are benefited with a medical cover and a life insurance for one year. Raigam Tele’es has proved that it is not limited to an annual award ceremony but an endeavor for the betterment of the artists at large.

1. Tele-dramas – Local tele-dramas that had telecast the last episode in 2023.
2. Other creations – The first telecast should be in 2023. Repeat telecasts are not eligible. Series such as reality programmes need to complete the respective season.
3. Any production telecast over cable TV or any other paid channel or any dubbed production (other than for best dubbing program) are not eligible for awards.
4. News Readers and Program Presenters may send their application through their TV channel or independently.
5. Award winners under News Reader and Programme Presenter are not eligible to re-apply for the same award in the three immediate succeeding years.

Kadira Divyaraja 100 - day celebration

The press conference for the Kadira Divyaraja 100-day celebration was held on 15th November at Hotel Sapphire, marking the successful public screening of the cinematic creation for over 100 days. The distinguished head table included Senior Professor Sunil Ariyarathne, the movie director, Dr. Ravi Liyanage, movie producer and Chairman of Raigam Group of Companies, Mr. Kishan Theodore, Managing Director of Raigam Group of Companies, and Ms. Kaveesha Theodore, Assistant Manager of Deveni 01 Brand.
The Kadira Divyaraja film has undeniably made history in Sri Lankan cinema by achieving a highly successful 100 days of public screening, earning over Rs. 275 million. Notably, the film received awards at Safal Fest 2023 in Australia and was awarded as the "Most Popular Film of the Year" at the British Way Popular Awards 2023.
Conceived by Senior Professor Sunil Ariyarathne, Kadira Divyaraja has breathed new life into the 75-year-old Sri Lankan cinema, offering a refreshing change. Dr. Ravi Liyanage, leveraging the strength of the Raigam Group, supported the film by presenting the product 'Raigam Deveni 1,' a 100% rice noodle product that aligns with the film's theme.
The film's screening in 75 centers across the island consistently drew full houses during weekend shows. To commemorate the 50th day of successful screening, a series of religious ceremonies, including Aashirwada Pooja and Dhamma Discourse, were organized at the Katharagama Kiri Vehera and Katharagama Devala premises on 29th September 2023. This meritorious activity, supported by Raigam Deveni 1, was attended by leading actors and artists, invoking blessings on Sinhala Cinema.
On the same day, the Kadira Divyaraja movie crew donated Rs.2 million from the movie's profit to Apeksha Cancer Hospital for the construction of a four-storied building for the children's ward.
The film crew initially planned to cease screening after 100 days, but due to special requests from film hall owners and audiences, they decided to continue screening in selected film halls.
The event concluded with the Kadira Divyaraja team cutting a celebration cake, expressing gratitude to audience, film hall owners, Kadira Divyaraja film cast, consumers of Deveni 01 – 100% rice noodles, and Raigam staff who contributed to the film's success.

Donation to the Apeksha Cancer hospital, Maharagama

Another meritorious deed was performed in celebrating the 50 days of the Kadira Divyaraja movie screening. The Kadira Divyaraja movie crew bestowed a sum of Rs.2 Million from the profit of the movie to Apeksha Cancer Hospital for the ongoing construction of the four-storied building for the children’s ward which is sponsored by the Ruhunu Katharagama Dewalaya. The movie Director, Prof.Sunil Ariyarathne, The movie Producer, Dr.Ravi Liyanage and Basnayake Nilame of the Katharagama Dewalaya, Mr.Dilshan Gunasekara participated in this laudable event.

Children’s and Elder’s day celebration

On 01^st of October 2023, we celebrated both Children’s day and Elder’s day at Savoy premiere Wellawattha. Kadira Divyaraja movie was shown free of charge to children of the Jinarathana children’s home and few elders as well. Main actress of the movie, Sonakshi Singh also participated to celebrate the day with the children and the elders. After the movie, everybody was served ‘Raigam Deveni 1’ and ‘Raigam Baduma Soya’. The event marked an end with cheerful memories.

Ashirwadha pooja ceremony held at Kiriwehera, Katharagama

An Aashirwada Pooja, Kapruk Pooja, Mahasen Pooja, Dhamma Discourse, Ashthapala Bodhi Pooja organized by the production team of the movie was held at the Katharagama Kiri Vehera and Katharagama Devala premises on the 29th September 2023 on the Binara full moon poya day, praying for the wellbeing and success, invoking blessing on the Sinhala Cinema on the occasion of the achieving 50 days of tremendously successful screening of the film Kadira Divyaraja. The patronage for this is provided by the Raigam Deveni 1-100% Rice Noodles, which is offered to the Sri Lankan consumers with piety and assurance it is second only to the rice prepared from our own local rice. Samar Varmani and Sonakshi Sing, the leading actor and actress of the film Kadira Divyaraja, along with all the leading Sri Lankan actors, actresses and artists participated for this meritorious activity. Press Conference to inform the Media on achieving the 50th day of screening for the Public of the Kadira Divyaraja cinematic creation grossing Rs. 200 million in revenue was held alluringly at Hotel Sapphire, Wellawattha. It is an indisputable fact that Kadira Divyaraja film, on passing the 50th day of successful public screening, has revolutionized the revenue records of the Sri Lankan cinema history. The movie director, Senior Professor Sunil Ariyarathne, The movie producer/Chairman-Raigam group of companies, Dr.Ravi Liyanage, The Managing Director, Mr.Kishan Theodore and Assistant Manager- Brands, Ms.Kaveesha Theodore participated for the press conference.

The Kadira Divyaraja movie which is screened island-wide successfully at 75 cinema halls in Sri Lanka has paved the way to twist 75 years old Sri Lankan cinema in stepping to the 76th year of origin.
This masterpiece based on the heavenly love of God Skandha and beautiful Valli was directed by Emeritus Professor Sunil Ariyarathne. The premiere of the movie was held at Savoy Premiere on 03rd of August 2023. Within a time period of 15 days, Kadira Divyaraja was able to reach an income of 500 lakhs.
Kadira Divyaraja movie is trying to re-build the crumbling film industry. The Grand Premiere of the great vivid cinematic movie of the century- The Kadira Divyaraja movie which was directed by Professor Sunil Ariyarathne and produced by Dr.Ravi Liyanage was held alluringly at the Savoy Premiere, Wellawatta on 03rd of August 2023. ‘’Raigam Devani 1’’ proudly presents the story of a divine romance of God Skandha and beautiful Valli. Dr. Ravi Liyanage directed his entrepreneurial strength towards the long suffering film industry by producing “Kadira Divyaraja”, the creative result of Laureate Professor Sunil Ariyarathna..
Many invitees were present at the occasion including Actors, Actress, media personals and veteran figures in the industry along with the Actors and Actresses of the movie. The event became more intrigued with the arrival of the main Actor and the Actress, Samar Vermani and Sonakshi Singh.
There were two movie premiers prior to the Grand Premiere at New Rohana movie theatre in Tissmaharama and SK movie theatre in Mathara on 02nd of August 2023. Many people visited the film halls to watch this great cinematic creation making the films halls-houseful. The film’s main Actor and Actress, Samar Vermani and Sonakshi Singh attended the film halls to join the people in sharing their love and devotion to God Skandha.

2022/2023 Group – After tax profit (unaudited) up by 101%

The management of the Raigam Wayamba Salterns PLC (RWS), the one and only salt manufacturing company listed in the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) is delighted to declare that the group has recorded its ever highest performance with a remarkable growth compared to the preceding year during the financial year 2022/2023. The press conference to declare the company’s achievement was held at the Raigam Corporate Head Office in Walukarama road, Colombo 03 on 06th of June 2023 with the participation of a large number of media personals. The Company Chairman, Dr.Ravi Liyanage, The Managing Director, Mr.Kishan Theodore, The Senior Director, Mr.Ganaka Amarasinghe along with two Non-executive independent Directors, Senior Professor Sampath Amarathunga and Mr.T. Dharmarajah participated for this event. These impressive results were revealed in the recently published 2022/2023 Provisional Financial Statements (un audited) of the group.

Raigam Wayamba Salterns (RWS) was established in the year 2005 as a subsidiary of the Raigam Group of Companies to grab the benefits of the opportunities available in the salt market in Sri Lanka, mainly the value added salt including table salt (powder) which was dominated by a few Indian Salt suppliers, despite the fact that Sri Lanka is surrounded by sea and plenty of favorable conditions required for the salt industry were existing. RWS had accurately judged the future trends in the market, especially conversion of consumer choice from traditional crystal salt to table salt and also many potential value additions.The company’s long term and short term strategies were set with a futuristic vision based on above and could achieve targets as planned making all dreams a reality, but with lot of hard work and commitment.

CSR Project- Donation given to children at Ceylon Moor Ladies Union and SriLankadhara Child Development Centre

Aarya plus challenge trophy

Aarya Plus challenge trophy-All island ranking Table tennis Championship 2021 was organised by the Nugegoda Table Tennis Association in collaboration with Aarya plus. It was held on the 8th and 9th of January 2022 at the St. Thomas college auditorium.
Many talented players participated for the event and performed well in all the categories. Under the Women’s category, Challenge trophy was won by Ayala against Hansini Piyumila of Sri Lankan Navy.
Under the Men’s Category, Challenge trophy was won by Krishan Wickramarrathna against current National Champion Senura Silva of Ananda College.
Most outstanding players was presented a cash prize of Rs.10,000 each. The Most outstanding player under the men’s category was Senura Liyanage. The Most outstanding player under the women’s category was Bimandee Bandara.

Raigam Tele’es- “Let’s revive 2022’’

The Raigam Tele award ceremony 2022 was held alluring at the Shangri-la hotel, Colombo on 25th of March 2023. ‘’Let’s revive’’ was the theme for the 19th encounter of the award ceremony. 60 awards were presented including the ‘’Janagatha awards’’ as well. The participation of the nominees, pioneers of the television industry and prominent academics glorified the night. The emeritus Professor J. B Dissanayake was the Chief Guest for the event.
Many astounding and fascinating performances were lined up in the agenda with the choreography of Mr.Chandana Wickramasinghe. Veteran actress, Ms.Veena Jayakodi was awarded the Prathiba Prabha award. Veteran media personnel, Mr.Saman Athaudahetti and veteran actress, Mrs.Nethalie Nanayakkara were appreciated with the Pranama awards.
Dusheni Miyurangi was crowned as ‘’The most popular actress’’ and Uddhika Premarathne was awarded ‘’The most popular actor’’ award, while Paradige was announced as ‘’The most popular teledrama’’. ‘’The best teledrama channel’’ for the year 2022 was awarded to Swarnawahini and ‘’The channel of the year’’ award was achieved by ITN. Furthermore, ‘’The best media excellence’’ for 2022 was awarded to TV Derana. The rest of the awards were designated to the respective winners of the remaining award categories. Raigam Tele’es 2022 came to end which was followed up with a pleasant cocktail gathering.

Nomination Evening-‘’Let’s revive’’ The 19th Raigam Tele’es 2022

The 19th Raigam Teleés Nomination evening was held on 24th February 2023 at Waters Edge hotel. Colombo. The renowned, veteran, film actor Mr.Sanath Gunathilake participated as the Chief Guest for the event. The main objective of this ceremony is to appreciate all the nominees in advance for getting nominated for respective award categories. 134 nominees were announced at the Nomination evening which were chosen for various television-drama categories. Further, the nominees were given an accreditation for their talents and also were gifted with a life insurance worth Rs.1,000,000 and a hospitalization cover worth Rs.100,000 from Allianz Insurance. Additionally, a gift voucher worth Rs.10,000 were given to all the nominees by FOX furniture.
The event was lined up with many tempting performances and the audience enjoyed the event from the beginning to the end. With the arranged cocktail function, the Nomination evening ensued.

Raigam Cricket festival 2023

The Annual Raigam Cricket tournament was held successfully at the Horana Urban Council grounds on 4th of February 2023. The event started early in the morning with 11 teams which were named after the famous Raigam brands. The 11 teams were, Team Soya, Team Deweni Batha, Team Esi, Team Gango, Team Coffee, Team Aarya, Team Ravan, Team Fox, Team NO-Q, Team Bubdifull and Team Angel. The teams comprised players from Raigam, DLS and TNC. Group Chairman, Dr.Ravi Liyanage, Managing Director, Mr.Kishan Theodore, Senior Director, Mr.Ganaka Amarasinghe, Executive Director, Mr.Bawantha Liyanage and the employees from the Raigam group joined to cheer and encourage the players of the teams.
After a series of matches, Team Coffee and Team No-Q were qualified for the finals. Team Coffee successfully paved their way to win the trophy for Annual Raigam Cricket tournament 2023. The victorious team was awarded with a trophy and cash prizes. The best batsman of the series was Thimira Nuwan from the Team NO-Q and the best bowler of the series was S.Kalei Selwam of Team Coffee. The winners were awarded with trophies and cash prizes. The event was filled with joy and recollections. The event adjourned with a musical arrangement arranged for the employees.

Raigam Sales conference 2023

Raigam Sales conference 2023 was successfully held at the Sanasa Hotel, Nuwaraeliya. This time it was held consecutively for three days. The line-up was included with many enthralling events. The motivational speech which was conducted by the Senior Director, Mr.Ganaka Amarasinghe was emphasized by the crowd. Along with the other events, the common meetings of the channels and brands, the award ceremony for the best performances were conducted too. The three day sales event was culminated with few fun activities which was arranged for the sales staff. Among them, the cricket match was the most interesting event for the day. With the arranged hike to the World’s end, the conference was adjourned. Raigam Group Chairman, Dr.Ravi Liyanage, Managing Director, Mr.Kishan Theodore, Senior Director, Mr.Ganaka Amarasinghe and the group sales staff participated for the conference. It marked the end of another memorable day for the Raigam diary.
