9th RAIGAM TELE’ES – 2012
As all good things must come to end,
so did the curtain drew close on the 9th Raigam Tele’es on the 17th of May
2013 at Water’s Edge from 6.00 P.M. with every attendant pomp
and pageantry. Many Senior Ministers, Cabinet Ministers,
Governors Members of Parliament and VVIPs attended the gala function.
The Chief Guest was former Prime Minister and Senior Minister for Good
Governance and Infrastructure Development and Hon. Ratnasiri Wickramanayake,
57 awards in all, under five different categories were presented to outstanding contributors to the TV industry.

30th of January was the day chosen to officially launch the 100%

Press Conference – Raigam 'Deveni Batha'.
12th of December saw the holding of the first Press Conference on the introduction of “Raigam Deveni Batha”to the media. Held at the Otters Aquatic Club, the Press Conference was well attended by representatives of all the news papers in the island. Chairman/CEO addressed the gathering explaining the need of the moment for this product which is made out of 100% rice flour.
With the attraction of the very reasonable price and the health benefits, Raigam Deveni Batha is going to be another feather in the Raigam cap.

An Exhibition of Drawings of School Children
An exhibition of drawings of school children in the southern province was held on the 16th of July at the Kingdom of Raigam.
Spread over three days, the exhibition was held in five segments; Pre-school, 1ST to 5TH Grade, 6th to 10th Grade.
From the thousands of entries receives two hundred selected entries were given certificates by the Raigam Management.

RAIGAM TELE’ES – 2011.
Taking a new approach as to the venue, the Raigam Tele’es -2011 was held at the Grand Banquet Hall of Waters Edge on the 11th of May 2012.
More than fifty awards were given away to the deserving talents of the tele-industry. In the absence due to ill-health of the Prime Minister who was billed to be the chief guest, the ceremony was launched under the patronage of the former Prime Minister Hon. Ratnasiri Wickramanayake, Senior Minister for Good Governance and Infrastructure Development accompanied by a number of Ministers and Parlimantarians.
As usual, the biggest and brightest stars of the TV and Cinema were there for all to see and the curtain came down on another wonderfully successful Raigam Awards Ceremony.

Mr. Ganaka Amarasinghe appointed as the President of AAT Sri Lanka for the period of 2011-2012
It is with great pride and pleasure we announce that the Managing Director of the Kingdom of Raigam,
Mr. Ganaka Amarasinghe has been elected the 7th President of the Association of Accounting
Technicians of Sri Lanka for the term 2012-2013. He was admitted to its membership (AATSL) in 1988 at the
inaugural convocation of the institute.
After the completion of his primary education, Mr. Ganaka Amarasinghe selected finance and accounting
professionas his career path and within a short period, was elected a Fellow Member of the Association of
Accounting Technicians of Sri Lanka (FMAAT), The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (FCA)
and also the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (FCMA). He obtained his Bachelor's
Degree in Business Administration from the University of Sri Jayawardhenapura.
He has over twenty five years experience in finance, accounting and business in the
private sector as well as the government sector organizations where he has held several
senior positions for significant periods. Today he is the Managing Director of the well
known Sri Lankan conglomerate, the Raigam Group. He has been with the Raigam Group since 1999.
Mr. Amarasinghe is also a Director of Puttalam Salt Limited.
Mr. Ganaka Amarasinghe has played a prominent and active role in the academic field since 1990
as a Visiting Lecturer of the Faculty of the University of Ruhuna, the Institute of Chartered
Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) and the Institute of Accounting Studies. He has extensively
contributed to the accounting profession in Sri Lanka as a Member of the Governing Councils of AATSL
(2006 - 2009) and CA SriLanka (2008 - 2011). As a member of the Governing Council of AATSL he Chaired
committees of Education, Training, Information Technology, CPD and many subcommittees. He has also
been the Chairman of Library, Education and Curriculum Development Committees of CA Sri Lanka and a
Member of Disciplinary, Investmentand Buildings Committees.Mr.Ganaka Amarasinghe was a Member of the
Panel of Judges for Presidential Awards for TourismIndustry in Sri Lanka and National Exports Awards.

Raigam Wins National Quality Merit Award
The pouring rains on the morning of 7th June saw Raigam receive the National Quality Merit Award at the 16 TH National Quality Awards Ceremony at the BMICH . Sri Lanka National Quality Awards scheme, based on Malcolm Baldridge Criteria for Performance Excellence is organized by the Sri Lanka Standards Institution. RAIGAM - New Champs of Mercantile Cricket Association – “C” Division.
In the Final worked out between Stafford Motors and Raigam at the CCC Grounds on 04 th June 2011, Raigam romped home by 7wickets with more than half the overs remaining after dismissing the Stafford Motors for 90 runs.Raigam won the toss and invited Stafford Motors to take the first lease of the wicket which saw the opposition folding for just 90 runs. Raigam scored the required runs for the loss of only three wickets leaving them the Champions of 2011. Lasantha Kumara of Raigam was adjudged the best Bowler of MCA C Division.

The usual post tele-awards press briefing was held on the 19th May at the Galle Face Hotel where the print and electronic media was well represented. Raigam Tele Awards Ceremony 2009
7 TH of May saw the 6 th consecutive Raigam Tele-awards Ceremony being held at the SL Exhibition and Convention Centre. The Hon. Prime Minister, many Cabinet Ministers and a host of other VIPS graced this wonderful occasion which is held each year to recognize, appreciate and encourage artists and technicians and others engaged in every facet of the tele-drama industry. The awards were won as follows. Best Actor - Jayalath Manorathne in Arungal as Sugunapala , Best Actress - Duleeka Marapana in Isuru Bhawna as Violet . Most Popular Actress - Nehara Peiris, Most Popular Actor -Menaka Rajapaksa, The Best tele-drama - Arungal produced by Saman Priyankra.
Most Popular tele-drama -Isuru Bhawana directed by Janaka Suranjith and Susiren de Silva, Most Popular Mega Tele-drama - Ithin Eeta Passe directed by Chandika Wijesena.
This year's Prathibha Prabha Award was received by Mr. Sathischandra Edirisinghe for the immense contribution he has made to the performing arts in his long career.
The speech of the Hon Prime Minister rounded off the evening's activities marking the end of another memorable event organized by the Raigam Tele-drama Secretariat.

Press Conference on IPO
Merchant Bank Auditorium was the venue for the press conference on the 5th of April held to mark the successful completion of the IPO, which saw the establishment of a record for the highest over-subscription factor of the decade, by almost twenty times.Principles governing the allocation of shares were also discussed and finalized. Dr. Ravi Liyanage, Chairman of the Raigam Group made a special statement thanking the subscribers for the trust shown in the company and reiterated that this trust would be safeguarded no matter what.

The First Salt Harvest of Bata-Atha Saltern
The First Salt Harvest of Bata-Atha Saltern in Hambanthota, was held on the 17 th of March. After more than two years of dedication, sacrifice and determination has turned a body of water, more than 250 acres in extent, in to a saltern producing crystal salt of the highest quality . In this season, around 2000MT of salt has been deposited in the Saltern, out of which 1000MT is expected to harvest within the first week. This would not have been possible if not for the cooperation and help extended to us by the villagers of the area who stood as one behind Raigam to make this venture successful, realizing the contribution it could make to the prosperity of the area.
The harvest of the Bata-Atha Saltern in Hambanthota will be processed at the Bata-atha Industrial Park where Raigam will be putting up a refining plant before the year is out.

Mercantile Cricket Tournament 2009/2010
16th of January 2010 saw The Kingdom of Raigam losing at the semi-final stage to Commercial Bank who went on to win the championship.The unique feature of the tournament was although we lost, our captain, Mahesh Kuruppu was adjudged the best batsman of the tournament. We wish Mahesh will perform even better in the future.

Newest Addition to the Raigam Family from the East
The 2 nd of November saw the soft opening of the biggest single saltern in the island.Periyakarachchi Saltern in Kuchchaveli, Trincomalee is 1600 acres approximately in extend. At the auspicious time of 11.16 am, GA Trincomalee, Major General Ranjith .T de Silva, Additional GA Mr. Nadarasa, Divisional Secretary Kuchchaveli Mr. Umar Maheshwaran and Deputy Divisional Secretary Mr. Nageswaran along with our chairman, Dr. Ravi Liyanage laid the foundation stone to the newest addition of the raigam family, Raigam Eastern Salt Companies Saltern, which is the biggest project in the east under the “re-awakening of the east” programme of His Excellency the president.

5 th Raigam Tele Awards Ceremony
The Kingdom of Raigam is proud to announce that Raigam Tele Awards Ceremony held on the evening of 15 th May 2009 at the BMICH was a huge, glittering success.The 5 th Consecutive Raigam Tele Awards Ceremony was graced by the Honorable Prime Minister Rathnasiri Wickramanayake as the Chief Guest and several senior ministers.Veteran Actor Janak Premalal received the award for BestActor for his role in “Karuwela Gedara” while seasoned actress Nilmini Tennakoon was picked for the Best Actress award for her role in “Handawa”.The Best Teledrama of the year award went to “Karuwela Gedara” directed by Sudath Rohana, while the award for the Most Popular Teledrama went to “Satharadenek Senpathiyo”. “Muthu Kirilli” was voted the Most Popular Mega Teledrama of the year.Actor Amila Abeysekara and Actress Nehara Peiris were awarded the Most Popular Actor and Actress respectively.
The Tribute Award (Pranama Sammanaya) was awarded to Veteran Actress Irangani Serasinghe and Veteran Senior Television Engineer K.N.Gunawardana.
Veteran Titus Tottawatte was awarded the Special Life-time Achievement Award (“Prathiba Prabha Sammanaya”) by the hand of Hon. Maithripala Sirisena, marking the end of another successful glamorous event organized by the Raigam Tele-Awards Secretariat.

Refinery at Bata-Atha.
The Kingdom of Raigam laid the foundation stone for their third Salt Refinery at the Batha-Atha Industrial Park , Adjacent to their Kunukalliya Lewaya. The raw material for the refinery Crystal-Salt, will be supplied by this saltern.The first Harvest from the saltern is expected in October 2009 and is it envisaged that the output from the Kunukalliya Lewaya will contribute in a big way in the prevention of imports of salt and salt based products to Sri Lanka.

RAIGAM - New Champs of Mercantile Cricket
In the Annual Bajaj Trophy Mercantile Cricket Tournament 2008/2009, preliminary matches, Raigam was able to beat Lion Brewery by a huge margin of 300 runs and Commercial Bank by 160 runs. Two teams who out-performed the rest reached the finals for the Bajaj Trophy on 21st February, the two teams being Raigam Marketing Services (Pvt) Ltd and LB Finance.
LB Finance won the toss and decided to bat on a good wicket. Superb fielding demonstrated by Raigam fielders put tremendous pressure on LB batsmen and they were limited to 189 all out in 35.5 over. In pursuit of a victory target of 190 in 40 overs, ensured the winning run of 190 with a beautiful cover drive boundary in the 31 over by recording 192 on the board for the loss of only 4 wickets.

Medical Camp
A medical Camp was held at the Raigam factory premises in September 2008 for all of the Raigam staff. A panel of nine doctors and support staff of nurses dispensed medicine free of charge. This camp was such a success that Raigam management has now decided to make this an annual event.
